Let us see the B2B transaction in e-Catalyst context: -

A business club is formed by the businesses of the similar type. E.g. Automobile businesses, Computers and peripherals businesses, Chemical businesses etc. They will do buying and selling on the Net with the help of e-Catalyst. We will consider the example of Computers and peripherals for this B2B transaction. Suppliers of Computer peripherals will publish the items on the Net, like Hard disks, Multimedia kits etc. The system Integrators providing solutions to customers are the potential buyers. Business club is formed of such buyers and suppliers. All the members use e-Catalyst package for their Accounting, Billing and Inventory functions.
Any buyer can get the information of the product which he/she intends to buy within the Business club, via Net. It is possible because the information is published by the suppliers on the Net. Suppose buyer wants to purchase an Hard disk of 10GB. He/ She can get the information of 10 GB Hard disk like price, supplier name and details and stock level if published. Hence comparative statement for purchase decision making is ready. Buyer can decide from whom to buy Goods. Buyer will place a Purchase Order on the supplier using common reference number. This Purchase order goes via Net directly to supplier, which goes into his accounting system for further processing. Supplier then checks the same and accepts the P.O. and sends back PO Acknowledgement to buyer or customer. Once the PO is accepted, supplier can generate the Delivery Challan cum Invoice directly using Catalyst and sends the Goods to customer. With this the Inventory of the supplier goes down and Accounts Receivables are increased automatically by the system. Similarly at Customer end, when Customer accepts the Goods ( GIN ), the Inventory goes up and Accounts Payable are effected automatically. Once the Payment is sent by customer to supplier, accounts gets settled at both ends.
In this way, Transaction time is saved and efficiency increases drastically. Customer is Happy because of the faster service and accurate service. Supplier gets benefited due to increased efficiency and accuracy in the transaction. Using this Framework of e-Catalyst one can implement the variety of Business Rules for particular market segment and give them End to end Business solution.
